Cierra Barnum
The Artistic Journey
WHO AM I?
My name is Cierra Barnum. I’m a Virginia based artist who has been blessed to be able to pursue my passion for an artistic career. I’m a stay at home wife, married to my high school sweetheart, who pushes me and encourages me to be the best artist that I can be.
MY EDUCATION
I’ve always had a creative mind and a desire to make art. In highschool I really harnessed that creative nature and started private tutoring with an experienced artist of 25 years. Through her instruction, I learned how to work with color pencils, watercolor, graphite, charcoal, and oil paint. I studied with her for nearly 4 years. After graduating from homeschooling, I entered the Fine Arts program of Northern Virginia Community College. During my time there, I had the opportunity to participate in the school’s gallery shows and was chosen to display my art in a group show at the Candy Factory Art Gallery.
MY EXPERIENCE
After receiving my Associates of Applied Arts, I started teaching private art classes. I have been teaching private art classes for almost 4 years now. I have also been a part of the Artist Undertaking Gallery for 2 years. All the while I’ve been working on my artwork and finding my own unique voice. I was part of Artist Undertaking gallery for 2 years as well as participating in a group show at Art On Main Street gallery.
